Just before the start of his senior year of highschool in 2012, avid skateboarder and 3.8 GPA student, Matt Hankey suffered a stroke after undetected bleeding in his brain caused an arteriovenous malformation to rupture. People with the congenital condition, known as AVM, are born with a tangle of blood vessels in the brain that divert blood directly from arteries to veins.
